All this talk about chat in Pleroma… Isn’t chat just the same as timelines but with the messages coming in from the bottom instead of the top?
“you don’t need any graphic design skills”
That’s perfect for me then.
Anti-Anti-Fa is literally Fa.
This was semi useful as part of doing some cleanup:

Black lives matter.
We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators and talent to speak up.
I’m afraid the rioters (as opposed to the protesters) have other motives however, that have nothing to do with justice for black people and that will ultimately even hurt the cause of black people. They, as well as many people on the fediverse, want to break down society. But with a broken down society, it’s never the downtrodden and underprivileged that thrive; it’s always the already rich and powerful that favour destroying society. It’s their work that’s being done by the rioters.
But I’m 100% behind the protestors. It’s a difficult balance.
I've setup a new Mastodon server on mastodon.online. The idea is to provide another space for people who would've landed on mastodon.social but can't because it's closed.
Even though I am currently in charge of both there are still logical and infrastructural separations between the two that give this move meaning in the context of decentralization.
Not to mention I've already scaled to mastodon.social's size once, so it would be easier for me to do again than to scale mastodon.social further.
Instagram on tablet is as broken as my Pleroma was overnight.
I support the protestors in America. Because of course black lives matter.
Having a server under constant load on a burstable instance in not a good idea. I have reduced the Oban workers and unsubscribed from the relay until I come up with a better solution.
The thing is that having a 2 cpu VPS (still burstable) costs 6 times more than this 1 cpu VPS…
I must say that with the curve (of hospitalizations due to #Covid19) looking like this in a country that didn’t do a real lockdown and doesn’t really do masks, the main spread of the #CoronaVirus seems to be due to events, offices, schools, etc. As long as we keep working from home and not gathering, we may be ok.
Not my line but my sentiment anyway:
I do not want to be in a club which would have me as a member.
And when you finally install the latest version, it comes with five warnings of outdated libraries.
By the way, the whole of linux is gatekeeping. The fact that to find which versions of
node are available you need to type:
apt-cache policy nodejs
and to find the available versions of
vue.js you need:
npm v @vue/cli versions
#Appeasement is a concept proven to be ineffectual by history.
I consider the people who put a respectable face on evil to be more dangerous than those who tattoo their opinions on their faces. They suck you in, become part of your club and you won’t even see it. It keeps other people out of your club and you won’t even know it.
Until they feel free to cross the line even slightly. Will you see it then? What will you do?
Extraordinary measures are needed to prevent this. Like avoiding people before they’ve crossed the line. That may seem unfair. But you don’t have to talk to everybody.
Or maybe my subconscious strategy: don’t be in a club in the first place…
(these thoughts brought on by having only seen half conversations the last couple of weeks)
I don’t like gatekeeping.
